The quiet of winter is a perfect time to give ourselves the gift of contemplation and the time to consider our gifts. Reflecting on Rev. Tom’s message, we all possess endless love flowing from God, with that love waiting to be fully realized in our gifts to one another and the world. Some gifts appear early in our lives; others appear over time and circumstance.
Whether your quiet is sitting by a warm cozy fire, creating a fragrant stew to simmer on the stove, or snowshoeing in deep, virgin snow listening to the birds and animals who brave winter in New England, savor the quiet. Listen for the spirit in your breath. Listen for your gifts to speak.
“What miracle of weird transforming
Is this wild work of frost and light,
This glimpse of glory infinite?”
John Greenleaf Whittier
Knock, and he’ll open the door Vanish, And He'll make you shine like the sun Fall, And He’ll raise you to the heavens Become nothing, And He’ll turn you into everything.
